It’s really hard to deal with the loss of a spouse, and it might be hard to move on. After her husband died, one of our readers, Donna, fell in love again and is now expecting her first child. But things have gotten more tricky for Donna. Her plans to move in with her new partner have angered her in-laws, who own the house where she resides. The expectant woman contacted us for guidance since she was feeling uneasy.

This is Donna’s tale:

After we were married, my in-laws allowed us to move into their second home. My husband became ill shortly after and died before we could have children. My in-laws encouraged me and allowed me to stay there.

After four years, I fell in love once more and became pregnant. My boyfriend intends to move in with me because he doesn’t own a home. However, my mother-in-law remarked, “It is an insult to my son to have another man there!” I refused to leave, and my father-in-law stayed silent.

I was startled to discover a big package of my clothes on the doorstep a few days later. A lawyer then called to inform me that my father-in-law had listed the house for sale. I was given a month to gather the remaining items and vacate.I’m enraged and startled.

Was having a roof over my head enough to require me to be a widow for the rest of my life?
