A woman recently reached out online for advice after a troubling encounter with her mother-in-law (MIL). Exhausted from caring for her colicky and vomiting baby, she gratefully accepted her MIL’s offer to watch the child so she could get some much-needed rest.

However, she awoke to her daughter’s cries and was shocked to discover that her MIL had left the baby unattended for over half an hour while she chatted on the phone outside. Disturbed by this negligence, the woman confronted her MIL, which led to a heated exchange. Ultimately, she decided to ask her MIL to leave.

When her husband returned home, the woman was dismayed to find that he sided with his mother. He downplayed the severity of the situation and chastised her for making his mother feel foolish. Seeking validation for her feelings, the woman turned to Reddit, where users overwhelmingly supported her, condemning the MIL’s behavior as neglectful and dangerous.

Despite her husband’s disapproval, the woman stood firm in her decision, emphasizing that her primary concern was her daughter’s safety. Redditors echoed her sentiments, stressing the importance of prioritizing the child’s well-being over hurt feelings.

The woman’s resolve remained unwavering, reflecting her commitment to ensuring her child’s welfare and holding her MIL accountable for her actions.

  • Oh the joys of motherhood until you can’t get any sleep. Look babies only cry for two things they either wet or hungry. It’s clear your baby wasn’t neither. Maybe your baby
heard a loud noise and that frighten her. These things happen. Now your lack of sleep has push you to the edge.
Look weve all been where you are now. A ceying baby is not a crime and it’s not the end of the world. Baby will keep making you sleep deprived until you train baby to sleep at your time. It can be done. Good luck.

  • My mum was visiting my grandmother and the baby across the road was crying all the time. Mum new the person across the road. He was a Dr, when mum went over to asking if the baby was all right he indicated that that the baby was fine. When mum asked about why the baby was crying so much he told her not to worry the baby was fine, the crying just help to strengthen his lungs. I dint say I agree with this comment or not but sometimes babies just cry. Could be a number of reason but they some probably just want attention. Good luck it should settle down eventually.
