Little Suzy Climb The Flag Pole

At school, little Johnny was known for his mischievous nature and his knack for coming up with wild ideas. One sunny afternoon, as he spotted little Suzy playing on the swings, he approached her with a grin. “Hey, Suzy! Do you want to climb the flagpole with me?” he asked, his eyes sparkling with excitement.

Suzy, who was always a bit more cautious than Johnny, shook her head firmly. “No way, Johnny! That’s too high!”

Undeterred, Johnny thought for a moment and then pulled out a crumpled dollar bill from his pocket. “What if I give you a dollar? Will you climb it then?”

Suzy’s eyes widened at the thought of earning a dollar. After a moment’s hesitation, she nodded, her curiosity piqued. “Okay, I’ll do it!”

With a burst of energy, she raced over to the flagpole, her heart pounding with a mix of excitement and nerves. She managed to climb to the first rung, then the second, and before she knew it, she was at the top, waving to Johnny below. He cheered and clapped, thrilled to see her up there.

That night, when Suzy got home, she couldn’t wait to tell her mother about her adventure. “Mom! You won’t believe what I did today! I climbed the flagpole and made a dollar!”

Her mother’s expression turned serious. “Suzy, you shouldn’t do that again. All little Johnny wants to do is see your underwear!”

Suzy furrowed her brow, trying to understand. “But Mom, I just wanted to climb the flagpole!”

The next day, Johnny was at it again. He spotted Suzy during recess and ran over, his mind racing with another idea. “Hey, Suzy! Will you climb the flagpole for me again?”

Suzy hesitated, remembering her mother’s warning. “No, I don’t think so,” she said, crossing her arms defiantly.

Johnny, however, wasn’t ready to give up. “What if I give you two dollars?”

Suzy’s eyes lit up at the thought of earning even more money. “Okay, I’ll do it!” she exclaimed, and off she went to the flagpole once more.

After her climb, she returned home and proudly told her mother, “Mom, I made two dollars today by climbing the flagpole!”

Her mother’s face turned red with frustration. “Suzy! I told you not to do that! All Johnny wants is to see your underwear!”

Suzy felt a pang of confusion but shrugged it off. She was just having fun, after all.

The following day, the same scenario played out. Johnny approached Suzy with a twinkle in his eye. “Hey, Suzy! Will you climb the flagpole for a dollar?”

Suzy shook her head. “No, I don’t think so.”

“Okay, how about two dollars?” Johnny pressed, but Suzy remained firm in her refusal.

Frustrated, Johnny decided to up the ante. “What if I give you five dollars?”

Suzy’s eyes widened in disbelief. “Five dollars?! Okay, I’ll do it!” she exclaimed, her excitement overpowering her caution.

After her climb, she rushed home to share the news with her mother. “Mom, guess what? I made five dollars climbing the flagpole today!”

Her mother was furious. “That’s it! You’re in big trouble, Suzy! I told you not to do that!”

Suzy, feeling a mix of guilt and defiance, quickly added, “Wait, Mommy! This time I tricked him!”

Her mother raised an eyebrow, intrigued despite her anger. “How did you trick him?”

With a proud grin, Suzy exclaimed, “I didn’t wear any underwear!”

For a moment, there was silence as her mother processed the revelation. Then, despite herself, she burst into laughter. “Oh, Suzy! You little rascal! I can’t believe you did that!”

Realizing the absurdity of the situation, Suzy joined in her mother’s laughter, the tension easing between them. “But Mom, I really did climb the flagpole!” she protested, giggling.

Her mother shook her head, still chuckling. “You’re going to give me gray hairs, you know that? But seriously, you need to be careful. Climbing flagpoles is dangerous, and I don’t want you getting hurt.”

Suzy nodded, her laughter subsiding as she understood her mother’s concern. “I promise, no more climbing the flagpole,” she said, crossing her heart.

From that day on, Suzy decided to channel her adventurous spirit into safer activities. She and Johnny became partners in all sorts of fun games—like building forts, playing tag, and exploring the nearby woods. And while the flagpole remained untouched, the memory of that day became a cherished story they would laugh about for years to come.

As for Johnny, he learned that sometimes, the best adventures didn’t require climbing to great heights but rather finding joy in the simple moments shared with friends. And Suzy? She discovered that while earning a dollar was fun, the real treasure lay in the laughter and memories they created together.
