In a supermarket shop, a woman encounters a grandfather and his misbehaving three-year-old grandson.
She can see that the grandfather is quite busy tending to the child who is yelling for candy from the candy aisle, cookies from the cookie aisle, etc.
Gramps, in the meantime, is moving around and murmuring in a calm voice, “Easy, Albert, we won’t be long-easy, boy.”
She hears Gramps quietly reassuring her after another tantrum, saying, “It’s okay, Albert, just a few more minutes and we’ll be out of here.” Boy, keep going.
“But that little mongrel’s name is Carl, and I’m Albert. When I get home, I’m going to drink a lot of whiskey.”
When the little terror is at the register, tossing things out of the cart, Gramps is there again, speaking in a calm voice, “Albert, Albert, relax buddy, don’t get upset.” Albert, keep your cool. In five minutes, we’ll be home.
After being greatly impressed, the woman steps outside to see Gramps loading the youngster and his groceries into the car.
“You know, sir, you were incredible in there, but it’s none of my concern. I’m not sure how you managed it. Throughout the entire situation, you maintained your cool and assured everyone that everything would be alright, regardless of how rowdy and noisy he became. It’s a blessing that you are Albert’s grandfather.
“Thank you, ma’am,” Gramps remarked.
