Ashley St. Clair alleges that Elon Musk is trying to exert control over her following her announcement of the birth of their six-month-old son.
On Monday, March 31, Laura Loomer shared a tweet featuring the 26-year-old influencer selling her Tesla to help cover childcare expenses on X. Shortly after Loomer posted the video, Musk, 53, refuted St. Clair’s assertions that he had engaged in “financial retaliation” against their shared child. He stated that, although he is uncertain about the child’s paternity, he has provided child support and has given St. Clair $2.5 million, along with an annual payment of $500,000.
Less than two hours later, St. Clair replied to Musk’s tweet, asserting that he had “refused” to take a paternity test. “Elon, we requested that you confirm paternity through a test before our child (whom you named) was even born,” she stated.
She further claimed, “You weren’t sending me money; you were providing support for your child, which you deemed necessary until you retracted most of it to exert control and punish me for noncompliance. However, you are ultimately punishing your son.” St. Clair remarked, “It’s ironic that your last legal move was to attempt to silence me while you utilize a social media platform you own to spread disparaging remarks about me and our child to the public,” adding, “This is all about control for you, and everyone can see it.”

She concluded her tweet with, “America needs you to mature, you petulant man-child.”
A representative for Musk has not yet responded to PEOPLE for comment.
The exchanges on social media come in the wake of St. Clair’s remarks to the Daily Mail on Saturday, March 29, where she was seen handing over the keys to her Tesla Model S. She explained to the outlet that she was selling the vehicle to offset the alleged “60 percent cut that Elon made to our son’s child support.”
When asked by the reporter if she believed Musk’s actions were “vindictive,” she replied, “That…”On February 14, St. Clair announced on X that she and Musk are the parents of a son. Musk is also the father of 13 other children from three different women.
A week after this announcement, she submitted a petition for sole custody to the New York Supreme Court. In her filing, she asserts that Musk was absent during the birth of their child and has only met him three times, with no involvement in his care or upbringing.
Weeks later, on March 20, her legal team provided an exclusive statement to PEOPLE, alleging, “Elon Musk has retaliated financially against his own child, significantly and unilaterally reducing his financial support.”
The statement continued, “This action came after Ashley was compelled to take the matter to court, as he ignored her numerous private attempts to resolve the issue discreetly.” Her attorneys, Karen Rosenthal, Bikel Rosenthal & Schanfield LLP, further stated to PEOPLE that Musk had also filed an emergency request to silence Ashley and prevent her from discussing his actions. The judge dismissed the urgency of this request, although it remains unresolved.
“Ashley is actively contesting this request to safeguard her right to speak out, while Mr. Musk presents himself as a champion of the First Amendment, communicating freely through his own social media platform,” they asserted. “If Mr. Musk is truly committed to transparency in governance, it would be beneficial for him to apply the same principles to his personal life.”
