Here’s Mark’s letter:
My in-laws invited 12 relatives to a fancy restaurant to celebrate my son’s graduation. I thought it would be nice to invite my parents as well since we were honoring their grandson.
When the bill arrived, my father-in-law paid the $1,700 but then asked me to cover the 18% tip because “I brought guests.” I refused and left. My wife remained silent.
Later that night, I received a distressing text from my wife.
She wrote, “Forget about me for some time. You ruined our only son’s celebration and embarrassed me in front of my entire family for a few hundred dollars.”
When I returned home, I was shocked to find our room nearly empty. My wife had moved out and taken almost all her belongings. It’s been three days, and she still hasn’t answered her phone.
