Kansas City Chiefs’ star tight end Travis Kelce has officially left X (formerly Twitter) after condemning the platform as a “toxic waste dump.”
The decision comes in response to a surge of harsh and hurtful comments directed at Taylor Swift, his girlfriend and global pop icon.
Kelce, who has been publicly supportive of Swift amid growing online scrutiny, reportedly reached his breaking point after seeing waves of negativity and vitriol aimed at the singer.
Sources close to the NFL star say he’s frustrated with the unchecked hostility on X, which has intensified as Swift’s relationship with him continues to draw media attention.
“Elon Musk’s platform has turned into a breeding ground for toxicity,” a source familiar with Kelce’s decision stated. “Travis is done engaging with a space that allows so much hate.”
While Kelce remains active on other social media platforms, his exit from X sends a strong message about the growing concerns regarding online harassment and the culture of negativity fostered on Musk’s app.
