Here’s Mark’s letter:
My in-laws invited 12 relatives to a fancy restaurant for my son’s graduation. I asked my parents to come as well since we were celebrating their grandson.
When the bill arrived, my father-in-law paid the $1,700 and then asked me to cover the 18% tip because “I brought guests.” I refused and left. My wife was silent throughout.
Later that night, I received a horrifying text from my wife.
She wrote, “Forget about me for some time. You ruined our only son’s celebration and embarrassed me in front of my entire family for a few hundred dollars.”
When I got home, I was stunned to find our room nearly empty. My wife had moved out and taken almost all of her belongings. It’s been three days, and she still hasn’t answered her phone.
I understand she’s angry, but I expected her to support me instead of blaming me. It was her dad who insulted my parents by treating them like unwanted guests.
